“I don’t lie a lot. At least not to the people who are close to me.

They can immediately tell if I’ve been lying. Honesty is a big value in my family.

Now, if I need to tell a lie, I only tell the white lies. I think it’s good to think it through about how the other person might react to what you are about to say to them. I usually try to tell things honestly, but just adjusting little things, to make conversation easier.

People usually lie because they are afraid of how people are going to react. The worst kind of lying for me is when somebody is saying one thing and doing something completely different. I knew a person like this. She said she really liked me, but in the end she went out with my friends and didn’t even invite me.”

I'm on a mission to get coffee with 500 strangers from all over the world. I want to speak to humans everywhere about their lives and how they experience the world. And cafes are the perfect place for this. Comfortable, cosy, illuminated with a cacophony of other human voices.
